In memory of his only beloved son, Mr. Shanmugam Pillai started a Trust and through his hard efforts built a Kalyana Mandapam “LALA MAHAL”, situated at Rathinapuri, Coimbatore. Mr. Shanmugam Pillai had helped countless number of people in the educational, medical and marital expenses. He has helped not only poor people, but has also done so much for their future welfare. He had given his employees total benefits, provided them with two wheelers for their conveyance-free of cost. Apart from these he has so much so that it cannot be explained in words. Mr. Shanmugam Pillai, recognized for his commitment and service to the society was awarded the MFJ the International Lions Club.
